Elon Musk's Grok to Serve Ads with a Side of AI: Because Nothing Says 'Helpful' Like Sponsored Content

In a move that shocked absolutely no one, Elon Musk announced that X's AI, Grok, will now include ads in its responses. Because when you ask an AI for the meaning of life, you definitely want to be interrupted by a 15-second unskippable ad for mattresses.

"This will revolutionize the way we interact with AI," Musk said, while presumably counting his doge coins. "Imagine getting life advice from Grok, only to be told that life is better with Brand X's new line of organic, gluten-free, ethically-sourced water."

The decision comes hot on the heels of X's ad business taking a nosedive after former CEO Linda Yaccarino left. "We needed a way to monetize our AI that didn't involve selling user data," Musk explained. "So we decided to sell user sanity instead."

Here's how it will work: every time you ask Grok a question, there's a 50% chance the answer will be preceded by an ad. And for the premium experience, there's a 10% chance the answer itself will be an ad. "It's like product placement, but for your brain," Musk added.

Critics have pointed out that this might make Grok less useful, but Musk was quick to dismiss their concerns. "Useful? Who said anything about useful?" he laughed. "This is about engagement. And by engagement, I mean forcing you to watch ads until you forget what you asked in the first place."

In related news, Grok will also introduce a new feature where it passively aggressively suggests you might need therapy if you ask it too many questions. "It's not just an AI, it's a life coach," Musk said. "A life coach that bills by the ad impression."
